Boys' Vocational Training Center
This boarding school started in 1972 in Ab Barik Industrial District, Shiraz and admitted an annual number of 100 candidates among nomadic elementary school graduates. Since the nomadic tribes were gradually giving up migration and their settlement developed nomadic villages, the new lifestyle required other sources of income and learning different skills was a major demand. The goal was to train candidates at fully-equipped workshops in different fields including construction, carpentry, electronics, auto mechanics, metallurgy, welding, plumbing, etc. and prepare them for the market where they can make an income as well as provide others with various services. The instructors, though were not licensed, were the technical experts in Shiraz and the apprentices were provided with practical instruction in a 2-year program (later 1-year). The most significant aspect of this center was that the candidates were neither requested an education degree, nor issued a graduation one after the completion of the program.
